Tumor markers and cancer screening
The medical community has been studying cancer and tumors for decades. With the establishment of the human genetic map, the medical community continues to discover genes related to cancer tumors, which are so-called tumor markers.
Men and women who have the relevant genes are at a statistically greater risk of developing certain types of cancer. However, although cancer is scary, we do not need to be afraid and shrink from it. On the contrary, we must be more alert to cancer, proactively conduct cancer screenings, actively take protective measures, be alert to detect symptoms as early as possible, receive appropriate diagnosis and treatment as soon as possible, and do our best to protect our health.
We offer the Tumor Marker Combo cancer screening package plan, which can detect tumor markers of eight common cancers: lung cancer, liver cancer, gastric cancer, nasopharyngeal cancer, colorectal cancer, pancreatic cancer, etc. For inquiries about cancer screening programmes, cancer screening packages and fees, please contact reVIVE Oncology and Cancer Centre.
Ways to Protect Against Cancer
Several ways to help reduce your chance of getting cancer
The causes of most cancers are still not fully understood, but research shows that the development of many cancers is related to our lifestyle habits. Therefore, by improving bad living habits and environmental factors, the risk of cancer can be reduced. Practicing a healthy lifestyle can help you take control of your health and prevent cancer. This is a method that everyone can achieve, and it is also an effective way to protect against cancer.
In terms of diet...
In terms of life...

Cancer screening, tumor marker tests
Cancer Screening & Tumor Marker Tests
To prevent cancer, the most direct and effective way is to conduct tumor marker examination. Tumor markers are based on the concentration of chemical substances produced by the tumor itself or the body's response to certain malignant or benign tumors as an index result, which can help evaluate, predict or evaluate the treatment of cancer, and predict whether the cancer will recur. Tumor marker examination can help identify those at higher risk and is currently very effective in preventing cancer.
However, if patients have other non-cancerous diseases such as inflammation and infection, unhealthy lifestyle habits such as smoking, or physiological conditions such as menstruation, pregnancy, congenital inheritance, etc., they can affect tumor marker levels. Therefore, tumor marker tests cannot be used alone as the basis for diagnosis and must be combined with other examinations, such as imaging tests, CT scans, ultrasound scans, etc.
AFP alpha-fetoprotein example
Take the tumor marker AFP alpha-fetoprotein as an example. AFP has always been regarded as a tumor index for hepatocellular carcinoma. AFP is mainly produced during the fetal period, and the concentration of AFP in the blood will drop rapidly after birth. Therefore, healthy people will be at a lower level, but if the AFP index is found to be elevated during examination, it not only indicates the possibility of liver cancer, but also the risk of various "non-malignant" benign diseases, such as inflammation or infection, including cirrhosis, acute hepatitis, chronic active hepatitis, etc., so tumor markers can also be used as indicators of physical disease.
Through effective screening and testing, such as tumor marker tests or genetic tests, people can find out if they have a high-risk gene for a certain type of cancer. The cost of tumor marker testing depends on the scope of the examination, with a wider range of markers covered resulting in higher fees. As for genetic tests, we would recommend them only for individuals with relevant family histories or personal cancer histories.
Tumor Marker Combo Screening Package
Tumor Marker Combo Cancer Screening Plan
reVIVE Oncology and Cancer Centre has introduced Tumor Marker Combo Screening Package that covers eight common tumor markers. Tumor Marker Combo Screening Package provides two different types of tests for cancer risks in both men and women. In addition to detecting the risks of nasopharyngeal cancer, liver cancer, gastric cancer, colorectal cancer, lung cancer, and Pancreatic Cancer, prostate cancer is specifically screened for men, while breast cancer and ovarian cancer are screened for women. These cancers are all among the top ten deadly male and female cancers in Hong Kong in recent years. Therefore, it is recommended to receive regular health check-ups, generally once a year, to detect potential health risks or underlying health problems early on.
